KPM Franklin Company Day and Tech Talk at UCF

This spring, KPM Franklin entered into a corporate sponsorship agreement with the University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Engineering & Computer Science (CECS) that supports the school’s ability to offer engineering student scholarships, develop academic programs and hire faculty and staff. In addition to work we do every day for our many Central Florida clients, this partnership with UCF is one of the most important local connections we have in the community.

On Wednesday, February 26, we participated in KPM Franklin Company Day at UCF. The day began with Milan Nandy E.I., project engineer and UCF Class of 2020, greeting students with coffee and donuts from 8 to 9:30 a.m. in the Engineering II Atrium.

Our main event was a Tech Talk from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the L3Harris Corporation Engineering Center to introduce UCF civil engineering students to software and other technologies our civil engineers, planners and land surveyors use in land development.

Robby Moon P.E., CEO, and Alex Goetz P.E., vice president of Orlando Engineering, demonstrated how our civil engineers use AutoCAD Civil 3D, SiteOps, ICPR, StormCAD and WaterCAD to design and draft construction documents. They also demonstrated how our planners use Municode to ensure proposed developments comply with local regulations and ArcGIS for building maps that show zoning and future land use restrictions, flood plain and wetland conditions, soil types, topography and other site-specific information.

John Pulice P.S.M., vice president and director of survey operations, demonstrated how our land surveyors are using robotic data collectors, GPS, GIS software and aerial and terrestrial LiDAR technologies to increase efficiency and shorten the time it takes to process client deliverables.

KPM Franklin is honored to participate in this and other events that are part of our UCF CECE Corporate Alliance Program Sponsorship.
