Survey Field Crew Chief – Kissimmee Office

KPM Franklin is a rapidly growing civil engineering and land surveying firm seeking a full-time survey field crew chief for our Kissimmee office. Ideal candidates will have 5-10 years of field crew chief experience and must be knowledgeable of the Standards of Practice for surveying and mapping in Chapter 5j-17 of the Florida Administrative Code. This person will lead a survey crew to collect accurate field data and complete assigned projects on time and on budget while performing boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS land title, control, construction layout and staking, tree, wetland and other surveys. Additional responsibilities include taking accurate field notes; reading and interpreting survey maps, construction plans and utility plans; and training new crew members about field surveying principles and procedures. All applicants must have a Florida driver's license with a clean driving record and be willing to work overtime and occasionally travel out of town. This person also must be physically able to stand for long periods of time on various surface types while working outdoors in all terrain and under all weather conditions.

Project Management Responsibilities
• Lead a survey crew to collect accurate field data and complete assigned projects on time and on budget
• Perform boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS land title, control, construction layout and staking, tree, wetland and other surveys
• Take accurate field notes
• Read and interpret survey maps, construction plans and utility plans
• Training new crew members about field surveying principles and procedures
• Willing to work overtime and occasionally travel out of town
• Physically able to work outdoors in all terrain and under all weather conditions
• Able to stand for long periods of time on various surface terrain

Education, Experience and Software Requirements
• High school diploma or GED certificate minimum
• Florida driver's license with a clean driving record
• Minimum 5-10 years of field crew chief experience
• Proficient using and caring for GPS, total Station and data collector equipment

Desired Skills and Experience, but not required
• Bachelor’s or associate degree in land surveying or related field
• Professional surveyor and mapper (PSM) Florida license
• NSPS certified survey technician (CST) certification
• AutoCAD experience
• FDOT Work Group 8 surveying and mapping standards and procedures experience
• Understanding of latest technologies related to aerial, mobile and terrestrial LiDAR
• Experience using LiDAR processing and/or extraction software

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000 to $75,000 annual salary
Travel: Occasional overtime and travel out of town for extended period of time
