On February 8, 2025, KPM Franklin participated in the University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Engineering & Computer Science (CECS) 2025 College Showcase which brought industry leaders together to speak to high school students aspiring to study engineering at UCF next year. Robby Moon P.E., our CEO, shared his insights into land development and our firm’s commitment to advancing civil engineering practices.
The industry panel was moderated by Manoj Chopra, UCF CECS Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, and included distinguished panelists from Northrop Grumman Defense Systems, Naval Nuclear Laboratory, Universal Destinations & Experiences and Duke Energy Florida. Each speaker brought a unique perspective about working in the fields of engineering and computer science.
After the panel discussion, Juan Gonzalez P.E., project manager, and Alex Wenzel, engineering intern and UCF CECS student, manned our display during the CECS College Showcase Expo. Our display included a poster and table-top replica of an underground drainage system from a recently completed project at the À La Cart Street Food & Craft Beer location in the SODO District of Orlando. Both demonstrated the innovative design strategies employed by our project engineers. Students eager to delve into the intricacies of civil engineering found themselves captivated by the hands-on demonstration of real-world applications.
The event was part of KPM Franklin’s UCF CECS corporate sponsorship that supports the school’s ability to offer engineering student scholarships, develop academic programs and hire faculty and staff. It was an honor to participate and celebrate how engineering and computer science play pivotal roles in shaping the world around us.
