Fun Spot Mine Blower LiDAR Flight

KPM Franklin created the a 3D point cloud and rail line extraction of the Mine Blower rollercoaster at Fun Spot Kissimmee from a recent flight of our Harris-Aerial Carrier H6 Hybrid Drone. Leveraging a LiDAR drone solution for a project of this type helps reduce field time to minimize park operations conflicts and removes staff from complex working conditions atop the ride. We collected more than 27 million individual points during a 15-minute flight using a RIEGL Minivux 3UAV LiDAR system on the drone.

We extracted the rail line of the rollercoaster’s wooden tracks that was used by Rocky Mountain Construction to design a system of replacement steel tracks which will lower maintenance costs and offer a smoother ride experience.
